Paramahansa Yogananda's Quotes

"Make new determinations as to what you are going to do and what you are going to be in this next year. Set a program for yourself; carry it through, and you will find how much happier you will be. Failure to keep to your schedule of improvement means you have paralyzed your will. You have no greater friend and no greater enemy than yourself. If you befriend yourself, you will find accomplishment. There is no law of God preventing you from being what you want to be and accomplishing what you want to accomplish. Nothing detrimental that happens can affect you unless you sanction it."

"Be always with people who inspire you; surround yourself with people who lift you up. Do not let your resolutions and positive thinking be poisoned by bad company. Even if you cannot find good company to inspire you, you can find it in meditation. The best company you can have is the joy of meditation."

Garrison Retreat 2018

Regional Weekend Retreat, May 18 – 20, 2018
Garrison Institute, Garrison, NY

We are pleased to announce this year’s Regional Weekend Retreat conducted by Self Realization Fellowship monastics from May 18 through May 20, 2018 at Garrison Institute, Garrison, New York.

The conducted retreat will include classes on Paramahansa Yogananda’s teachings and provide opportunities for group meditations and satsanga (informal talks). The retreat is open to SRF members and friends. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS A SILENT RETREAT.

Garrison Institute is a beautifully renovated former Capuchin monastery located on a bluff overlooking the Hudson River surrounded by forest and fields. It is about fifty miles north of New York City. The serene ambience of the Institute, its picturesque surroundings and the various trails, ponds, meadows, and scenic overlooks on its grounds are conducive to deep meditation and silent spiritual retreat.

Since the goal of the retreat is to interiorize our consciousness and minimize external distractions, retreatants are expected to maintain silence from the beginning of the first class on Friday through the conclusion of the last class on Sunday.

The retreat begins on Friday evening and concludes on Sunday afternoon. Because of the number of requests received, it is important that reservations be made well in advance.

Registration opens at 9:00 AM on Thursday, January 4, 2018 and involves two steps.

Step 1. Attendees complete “Program Registration” and submit a fee of $45 per person to NYCC-SRF. Fees paid in this step cover retreat related expenses incurred by New York City Center of Self-Realization Fellowship.
